The energy of smiles by Sammontana

In collaboration with the international studio CRA Carlo Ratti Associati, architect Italo Rota, and engineer Chuck Hoberman, Sammontana has created an innovative project that combines technological advancements and captivating design to reimagine the summer experience at Italian beach resorts with a focus on sustainability.

The project created an open-air oasis of relaxation, featuring special umbrellas that harness solar energy by means of small solar panels built in the beach umbrellas covers, providing an authentic and refreshing experience. These umbrellas are designed to be interconnected, forming a "smart grid" of eleven modules capable of powering a large ice cream refrigerator and offering individuals the opportunity to enjoy cool beverages, seek shade in the midday heat, and conveniently charge their electronic devices while comfortably lounging on their beach chairs.
